Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil’s supply of human teeth grows dangerously low.
And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherworldly war.
Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real, she’s prone to disappearing on mysterious “errands”, she speaks many languages – not all of them human – and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she’s about to find out.
When beautiful, haunted Akiva fixes fiery eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deeply of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?
At first, I thought I wasn’t going to like this book, I thought it was going to be one that either too me a while to read or which I wouldn’t finish and give up on but as read more and more I loved it. I loved the characters and I loved the way the book was written and how we found things out. I can’t wait to get the next one which I was tempted to buy as soon as I had finished the one I was reading. I really liked how the story all came together at the end and how we found everything out as a ‘seperate’ story in the book. Even as the little hint was dropped about the wolf guy from her past [ I can’t remember his name]. I have a feeling this may be one of my favorite series if the books are all as exciting as this.
I would recommend these to anyone to read and even though I’d seen other people’s reviews about them I still didn’t pick them up, glad I did now, though.
